MotoGP at Silverstone: the sharp end

A weekend at the British Grand Prix — the speed, the engineering and what modern MotoGP machinery tells us about the collectibles of tomorrow.

MotoGP at Silverstone: the sharp end

MotoGP at Silverstone is the sharpest end of motorcycle racing, and seeing it live recalibrates your understanding of speed. Through the fast changes of direction the prototypes do things that seem physically unreasonable, and no television coverage has ever properly conveyed it.

We attend partly for the spectacle and partly for the perspective. Today's factory machinery is tomorrow's collectible — the homologation specials and race-replica road bikes of the 1980s and 1990s that we deal in were shaped by exactly this paddock, four decades ago.

It was also a useful weekend of meetings. Clients from overseas flew in for the race, and we arranged motorcycles for them to ride during their stay — collected from storage, prepared, and delivered. That is the side of our work that turns a race weekend into a proper trip.
